What is the trademark registration fee in Pakistan?
Trademark cost in Pakistan is calculated in stages and generally per class. The government fee schedule, the mark and specification, objections and professional work all affect the final budget.
Updated
Short answer
The position in brief.
The published fee revision notification I could verify, effective 9 March 2019, lists Rs 3,000 for a TM-1 application in one class and Rs 9,000 for the TM-11 registration stage in that class if the application proceeds. It also lists a separate search fee and separate charges for opposition, counterstatement, hearings and renewal. These figures are a dated published schedule, not a promise that the current IPO payment screen is unchanged. Check the current IPO-Pakistan portal or registry before paying. A lawyer's professional fee and any response or opposition work are separate from the government fee.

The published fee is per class
The Trade Marks Rules require an application to be for one class. If the same name, logo or other mark needs protection for goods or services in more than one class, the filing plan and government fees may multiply. Choosing classes only by the business name can leave important goods or services outside the application.
The 2019 fee revision notification located for the First Schedule lists Rs 3,000 for a TM-1 application in one class and Rs 9,000 for TM-11 registration in that class after the application reaches that stage. Confirm the current amount shown by the responsible authority before payment because fee schedules and payment instructions can be revised.
- One TM-1 application fee for each class filed.
- A separate TM-11 registration fee if the application is accepted and reaches registration.
- An optional or separate search fee where a search is requested.
- Additional official fees for opposition, counterstatement, hearing, renewal or other forms when required.
- Professional fees for clearance, drafting, filing, responding to objections or handling opposition.

What the registration process includes
A practical application normally starts with a search and a decision about the mark, owner, address and goods or services. The application is examined by IPO-Pakistan. An objection or office communication may require a properly reasoned response and supporting material.
If the application proceeds, the mark is advertised in the Trade Marks Journal. The Rules provide an opposition period of two months from advertisement. If the opposition stage is clear and the application reaches registration, the applicant files the registration form and pays the applicable fee. The certificate and later renewal are separate stages.
- Search the proposed mark and assess similar marks and the relevant class.
- Prepare the owner, representation of the mark and precise goods or services.
- File the application and respond to any examination objection or hearing notice.
- Monitor Journal publication and the two-month opposition period.
- Complete registration payment and certificate steps if the application is accepted.
- Track the renewal date and any change, assignment or licensing record that the business later needs.
03
A filing fee does not guarantee registration
A paid application can still face an objection, a confusingly similar earlier mark, a specification problem, an opposition or a request for evidence. The result depends on the mark, goods or services, record and response. Do not treat a filing receipt as a registration certificate or as a guarantee that the mark can be used without further advice.
The commercial budget should therefore include a contingency for examination responses and opposition, not only the first payment. A professional review before filing can also reduce the risk of choosing a class or description that does not match the actual business.
04
Confirm the current IPO route
IPO-Pakistan is the responsible authority for the application and registration record. Online availability, payment method, form version, supporting-document format and office instructions can change. Confirm the current portal or registry instruction before making payment, especially if the application is urgent or involves a foreign owner.
The 2019 notification is useful for understanding the fee structure, but it is not used here as an unqualified current quote. If the live portal shows a different amount, the current authority instruction controls the payment decision.

Questions
Common questions.
Is the trademark fee charged for each class?
Yes, the Trade Marks Rules provide for one class per application. A mark covering multiple classes normally requires a separate filing plan and separate class-based fees.
Does the government fee include the lawyer's fee?
No. Government filing, registration and other official charges are separate from professional fees for search, drafting, filing, responses, hearings or opposition.
Is Rs 3,000 still the current trademark filing fee?
The published notification located for this guide lists Rs 3,000 for TM-1 per class and was effective 9 March 2019. Confirm the current amount on the IPO-Pakistan portal or with the registry before paying.
Does filing a trademark guarantee registration?
No. Examination objections, similar marks, specification issues and opposition can affect the application. Filing is one stage and does not guarantee registration or a particular result.
