    Questions

    Common questions.

Is the trademark fee charged for each class?

Yes, the Trade Marks Rules provide for one class per application. A mark covering multiple classes normally requires a separate filing plan and separate class-based fees.

Does the government fee include the lawyer's fee?

No. Government filing, registration and other official charges are separate from professional fees for search, drafting, filing, responses, hearings or opposition.

Is Rs 3,000 still the current trademark filing fee?

The published notification located for this guide lists Rs 3,000 for TM-1 per class and was effective 9 March 2019. Confirm the current amount on the IPO-Pakistan portal or with the registry before paying.

Does filing a trademark guarantee registration?

No. Examination objections, similar marks, specification issues and opposition can affect the application. Filing is one stage and does not guarantee registration or a particular result.
