How to register a company online in Pakistan

The current SECP process offers a standalone name-reservation application or a combined name-reservation and incorporation application through eZfile. A single member may form an SMC, two or more people may form a private company and three or more may form a public company, subject to the Companies Act, Companies Regulations 2024 and any specialized approval. The applicant creates an eZfile user account and PIN, proposes a compliant name, enters business, capital, registered-office and stakeholder details, reviews the system-generated MOA/AOA, obtains subscriber signatures with PINs and pays the current fee. If approved, SECP issues a digital certificate of incorporation; FBR NTN and other integrated registrations have their own accuracy and eligibility conditions.

SECP's name-reservation guidance allows a combined application to include up to three proposed names in priority order, from which one may be approved. The name must not be identical or confusingly similar to an existing company, inappropriate or deceptive, undesirable, an infringement of a registered trademark, designed to exploit religious sensitivities or contain a prohibited word. Section 10 of the Companies Act and the current Regulations control the assessment.

A name search is not a substitute for a trademark clearance or commercial check. If the name, brand or principal line of business is sensitive or regulated, resolve that issue before paying for a filing built around it.

The SECP guide describes four broad steps: user registration, completion of the name and incorporation application, review and application of subscriber PINs, and fee payment. The user creates an account and receives a PIN by email, selects standalone or combined filing, enters the proposed names and company information, adds stakeholders, reviews the generated constitutional documents, and supplies information required for integrated third-party registrations.

All subscribers must sign with their PINs before submission becomes available. The application then produces an Application ID and fee information. Payment can be made through the modes currently offered by eZfile. On successful processing and payment, SECP says the digital certificate of incorporation is sent by email and can be downloaded from the portal.
